Norma was born in Akron, Ohio to Thomas and Matilda Stokes on November 12th, 1926. She was the youngest of eleven children. She married Wilbur John Wyler Jr., known by family and friends as “Bill,” in Akron, Ohio on May 22nd, 1948. They spent their honeymoon traveling to Oregon, where they later chose to call their home and raise their four children: Cheryl, Sue, Steve, and Jeff.
Family meant everything to Norma. She enjoyed the special times she spent with her grandchildren and family. Camping was a favorite past time of the entire Wyler family and they often gathered and spent many summers at Taylor Park.
Norma made friends wherever she went. She loved to make people smile and would help others whenever possible. She often opened her home to whoever needed a place to stay and had great intuition about when people needed an encouraging word or a hug to let them know that the Lord will help them through any situation. In the past, she was a volunteer candy striper at the hospital and was also a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Military Order of the Purple Heart.
Aside from spending time with family and friends, she enjoyed going to church, shopping, gardening and spending time at the Oregon Coast.
Norma is predeceased by her husband Bill, who passed away on February 8th, 1993, her parents and her siblings. She is survived by her four children: Cheryl (Rich) Bradley, Sue Polston, Steve (Ginger) Wyler, and Jeff (Laura) Wyler. She leaves behind ten grandchildren: Shane, Todd, Jeremy, Minden, Alicia, Brittany, Jennifer, Jacob, Brian and Kevin, 14 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-grandchild.
Norma was a blessing to all of us and a true gift from God. She will be greatly missed.
