Patricia was born December 12, 1932 in Oakland, California, to Jake & Ruth (Florence) Branson. She attended the Oakland school system, graduating from Fremont High School in Oakland. She attended Melrose Baptist Church from birth. She accepted Jesus Christ as her Savior and developed many friends. After school, she worked for Levi Strauss in San Francisco. In 1950, her father, Jake Branson, started a lumber company and she went to work for him. In 1954, she was asked to go on a blind date with one of her friends from Melrose Baptist Church and she said, "No way." Then she talked to several other friends and they convinced her she didn’t have anything to lose; he was from Michigan and in the Navy, so you will not have to see him again. It did not work that way. He, Irv Cross, was discharged in May of 1955 and they were married at Melrose Baptist Church on June 24, 1955. At the time of Patricia’s passing, she and Irv had been married 65 years and eight months. After the kids were out of the house, she became a realtor until the family moved out of the area. She had many friends. They had three children Rebecca, Robin, and Randy. Randy proceeded her in death on Memorial Day 1999. She is survived by her husband, Irv; daughters, Rebecca Cross Kristiansen and Robin Bunyan; sons-in-law, Lars Kristiansen and Bill Bunyan; her brother, Donald Branson; nephews, Gordon Branson and Gilbert Branson; and nieces, Debra Branson and Katie Branson.
She will be missed by all who knew her.
Patricia is under the care of Howell, Edwards, Doerksen with Rigdon-Ransom Funeral Directors. Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.hed-fh.com for the Cross family.
