Mt. Angel – Paul E. Adams of Mt. Angel died June 13, 2010, he was 83.
Paul was born in Farmer City, Ill. He attended Fairview grade school in Mahomet, Ill. and Fisher High School. Paul served in the U.S. Navy during World War II on board the U.S.S. Yellowstone, AD-27, as a helmsman, a sight-setter and ship’s tailor. Later while still in the U.S. Navy Reserves Paul attended the University of Ill.
Paul worked for Boise Cascade as a back-tender on paper machines for twenty-one years retiring in 1982; he then worked for the Oregon State Highway Division as a maintenance worker and retired in 1985. He also worked as a realtor for a year, at Adams Sport Shop for four years, and at Adams Logging and Trucking for five years.
Paul was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus. He enjoyed tree farming, gardening, fishing, and traveling.
He married Elizabeth Pedelesky on March 2, 1957. She died Sept. 17, 1990. On April 16, 1994 he married Joien Greiner Lulay.
Paul is survived by his wife, Joien Adams, of Mt. Angel, Daughters and sons in law; Karen and Joe Coussens, of Portland, Denise and Wayne Fromherz, Of Salem, grandchildren; Nathan, Rachel, Paul, Dana, Elizabeth, Mary Jo, Stephen, Gabriel, and Lucas, brothers; Frank Adams, of Hunters, Wash., Eugene Adams, of Rantoul, Ill., sisters; Geri Burke, of Vancouver, Wash., Mary Erickson, of Alto, Iowa, Barbara Adams, of Portland, Ore., Theresa Hampton, of Portland, Ore., as well as six step daughters and a step son and 27 step grandchildren and 27 step great grandchildren.
Paul was preceded in death by his father, Oley Adams, his mother, Rosa Adams, brothers; Stanley and Virgil Adams, his first wife, Elizabeth Adams, and a grandson William Fromherz.
Visitation for Paul will be from Noon until 7pm on Thursday, June 17, at Howell, Edwards, Doerksen with Rigdon – Ransom Funeral Home. A rosary will be at 10:30 am on Friday, June 18, 2010 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 721 Chemeketa St. NE, Salem Ore., Funeral mass will follow at 11 am also at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Interment will take place at 2:30 pm at Belcrest Memorial Park, in Salem.
