Peter was born December 29, 1931 in Brooklyn, New York to Peter and Camille Greco. Starting his baccalaureate at Fordham at the age of 16. Peter took time away from his education after gradating to enter the US Army as an officer serving stateside.
It was during this time as a veteran that Peter met Jean Endler, who he married in August 1955. Peter went on to earn a doctoral degree from Columbia University in New York City and his love for teaching spanned a long career in both K-12 and higher education. Together, Peter and Jean raised a daughter Anne, and a son, Peter.
Peter's love of inquiry was obvious to his many friends, and to all in his family. He would often ask streams of questions, seeking great depth in discourse on any of a large variety of subjects. At his core, however, Peter's great love for his family was what made him a great son, brother, husband, father, and grandfather. Were he to tell it himself, family would be his reason for existence -- the key to a life so fully lived.
Peter is survived by his wife, Jean, his two children, Peter and Anne, three grandchildren, his aunt, his brother-in-law, cousins, nieces and nephews, all of whom feel blessed to have had him in their lives.
A funeral service for Peter will be held Tuesday, January 28, 2020 from 2:00 pm at Howell, Edwards, Doerksen with Rigdon-Ransom Funeral Directors, 1350 Commercial Street SE, Salem, OR 97302.
