Phyllis Sorenson was the daughter of Henry & Amanda Grage of Fergus Falls, Minnesota. She attended one room country school for the first few years of her schooling. Later they moved to Fergus Falls where graduated from Fergus Falls high school.
She worked in the local hospital as a nurses aid until she met and married Jim Sorenson. They were married on June 3,1950 at the First English Lutheran Church.
Phyllis had two boys, Bill & Tom. After their marriage the family live in New Rockford, ND, Olivia, MN, Mora,MN and in St.Louis Park,MN. Jim was transferred to Fresno,CA in 1962, and again to Portland,OR where the family settled in Beaverton. Phyllis did not work outside the home until 1967 when she worked at the Oak Hills School. After a job transfer back to Fresno in 1972, Phyllis worked as a IRS tax examiner for 19 years, In the Fresno Reginal Center.
She retired in 1992 and after retirement they moved to Salem,OR.
Phyllis loved dancing! as a couple they danced in many different places in Oregon. Her preferred music was Big Band, Waltzes and Polkas. Her life evolved around her husband, two sons and 5 grandchildren, and 7 great grandchildren.
