In addition to her parents, Rebecca was preceded in death by her siblings, Tiva, Stella, Bart, and Donald; husbands, Leo Hamson and John McCauley; and two of her children: her son Donald and daughter Cindy.
She is survived by her brother Abe (Claudia), sister Bernice, daughters Sharon and Lisa, grandchildren RJ (Bailey), Kendra, and Logan, along with many loving nieces, nephews, and grand-nieces/nephews.
Rebecca took the world by storm - from working in Communications at United Airlines to owner/operator of McCauley's Reprographics Inc; even after retiring, she continued to work at local gift shops for Fountainhead and the Pioneer Park. She loved to fish, camp, read, can, bake (awesome!) pies, crochet, sew, and garden. And she loved feeding her ravens in Fairbanks, Alaska! As she was transitioning a flock of crows (ravens in spirit), she held a vigil in the front yard.
She gave back to the world more than she took by aligning herself in organizations such as The Lioness Club, The Lions Club, The Rotary Club, American Legion Auxiliary, and countless hours of volunteering in the communities she lived in.
She lived 87 years and will always be an inspiration in strength and moxie. She truly is a legend. The memories shared with her grandchildren and family are priceless: from taking a ride in a roofless Jeep with her brother, where she said she had a blast looking at the trees and feeling the wind in her hair; even though she didn't have much of an appetite, her sugar tooth kept her going; her baby brother, Abe, brought beautiful cakes for her, and her granddaughter swore she probably had at least 2 slices of each with ice cream. She was a little stinker all the way to her last days, still as stubborn as ever.
While her passing is difficult for us, we all knew she was ready and is at peace now. The cancer that ravaged her body didn't change her heart and she smiled until the end, especially when her baby brother was by her side. She was surrounded by her loving family.
We are incredibly grateful to the family and friends who helped get Mom to the Oregon coast from Washington, and especially to her grandkids who exhibited her strength and were our pillars during the last few months.
Becky had chosen not to have a memorial service, so instead we celebrated her life by having dinner and/or raising a glass in her honor and memory.
Rest in peace to this beautiful angel.
