Beloved wife, mother, grandmother (affectionately known as Grammy), daughter, sister, aunt, cousin, and friend to many. Born August 31, 1953 in Mandan, North Dakota to Ruth and Walter Randle. She and her siblings were later adopted by Ruth’s second husband, Robert Mayer. Reva graduated to Glory, August 12, 2025.
She is survived by her husband of 51 years, Ken; her children, Lynnea (Timothy) Lux-Kosiewicz, David (Kelly) Lux, and Melissa (Brian) Holman; nine grandchildren, Gideon Kosiewicz, Joseph and Benjamin Lux, and Ronan, Kaden, Trystan, Lincoln, Colin and Isla Holman, and her siblings: Diane Wright (Joel Wright), Rod Mayer (Mariah Mayer), Windy Citro (Mario Citro), Robert Jon Mayer (Michelle Mayer), Becky Washburn (Scott Washburn), Marianne Fogel, Jane Moe (Larry Moe), Kathy Tangen (Neil Tangen), along with many cousins, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, a sister, Elaine Osoteo and a brother, Reed Mayer.
Reva graduated from Snohomish High School and attended Western Baptist Bible College (now Corban University) for two years. It was there she and Ken met, became friends, fell in love, and got engaged. Reva and Ken were married on September 8, 1973. While Ken was completing his education at Western Baptist, Reva worked part time until the birth of their first child, Lynnea. After their youngest child, Melissa, started kindergarten, Reva became a crossing guard for the Salem Keizer school district near the elementary school where their children attended and she served in that capacity for 20+ years.
Reva and Ken began attending Bethany Baptist Church while still students at Western Baptist College. Over the years, Reva served the church in various capacities including as Children’s Choir Director, Sunday School teacher, and as an AWANA story time reader. She also led a women’s small group Bible study at home for several years. Many moms and children in her church were given unique water-colored paintings to brighten the nursery room wall as a baby shower gift. Reva was also known by many as a dedicated prayer warrior on behalf of people with spiritual and physical needs.
Her mission field was her neighborhood. When weather permitted (and sometimes when it did not) she would take her exercise walks through the neighborhood, stopping to chat and connect with people along the way. It would not take long for those she met to know of her passion to share the good news of God’s salvation plan. The changing demographics of the neighborhood over the years inspired her to work on learning Spanish so she could meet her Spanish speaking neighbors where they were. She discovered that asking help on word pronunciation would often open the door for sharing the gospel, as well as build community relations.
Reva loved God’s Creation, especially wildlife. For many years she was an active and founding member of Salem Wildlife Rehabilitation Association, caring for all kinds of sick, injured, and orphaned animals until they could be relocated to permanent education rehabilitation facilities or released back into the wild.
Her passing was sudden and unexpected. Only her Heavenly Father knew the date and time, and He was there to welcome her into His presence; she was and remains His “good and faithful servant”.
Her children arise and call her blessed;
her husband also, and he praises her:
“Many women do noble things,
but you surpass them all.”
Proverbs 31:28, 29
