Rhea Margaret Whitby

Rhea Margaret Whitby, age 100, of Salem, Oregon passed away on Friday, July 22, 2022. Rhea was born March 5, 1922 in Lewistown, Montana; the only one of the 7 children of John and Rhea Jamison to be born in a hospital.

The family moved to Council Bluff, Iowa when she was 6 months old.

The family moved to Oregon in 1937 and Rhea finished High School at Jefferson High. While at Jefferson High she met Robert Whitby and they married on January 2, 1944.

Following WWII they settled in Salem and raised 4 children; Diane Cooper, Kathleen Schulte, Maureen Martin, and Michael Whitby.

Rhea is survived by her children, 7 grandchildren; Jennifer, Brian, Jessie, Elizabeth, Nathan, Megan, and Rosalyn. And 6 1/2 great-grandchildren; Catia, Dasha, Emily, Anthony, Damien, and Ivy.

Rhea was preceded in death by her parents, her husband; Robert, sisters; Dorothea and Mary, and brothers; John, Robert, Russell, and Joseph.

A Celebration of Life will be held at Howell, Edwards, Doerksen with Rigdon-Ransom Funeral Directors (1350 Commercial Street SE Salem) on August 6th with a private graveside service to follow at Jefferson Cemetery.
