Richard O'Dell

Richard L. O'Dell passed away on Monday, August 8th, 2011. He had just celebrated his 79th Birthday on July 31st, 2011. He was a wonderful man with a great sense of humor who enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. Richard was a long time resident of Salem, Oregon.

Richard is survived by his daughter, Glynnis Parkin, son-in-law, Mike Parkin, Fiancee, Barbara Herndon, son, Dustin O'Dell and grandchildren, Whitney and Bodhi Parkin and Dylan and Cole O'Dell.

Richard was born in Chehalis Washington on July 31st, 1932 to Frank and Helen O'Dell. His father Frank passed away when Richard was a year old and his mother, Helen just recently passed away on May 24th, 2011. Richard was an only child. Richard grew up in Washington and graduated from Renton High School in 1951. He received Bachelor degrees from both Seattle University in Science and Portland State University in Business. His lifetime career involved Pharmaceutical Sales. He was also a retired Naval Reservist in the Submarine division.

Richard was married for 53 years to his high school sweetheart, Pauline Proctor O'Dell who passed away in January of 2007. He was lucky enough to find love again and was engaged to Barbara Herdon. They enjoyed traveling and social events with many friends.

Richard also enjoyed golf, water aerobics, poker with friends, republican party meetings, and a good argument every now and then.

His family will greatly miss him.
