

Richard “Dick” Wolcott was born in Lebanon, Oregon on April 27, 1929 and grew up in Corvallis, Oregon. He was the son of Charles J Wolcott and Freda E Wolcott. He died on April 13, 2026, just fourteen days before his 97th birthday.
Dick played on the 1948 Corvallis High School State Championship basketball team. He was also the leading hitter his senior year on the Corvallis High School baseball team. Dick went on to join the Navy after high school and served from 1949-1953. He was stationed on the aircraft carrier USS Badoeng Strait and the USS Floyd’s Bay, a sea plane tender.
After the navy, Dick worked on the family farm east of Albany and attended Oregon State College (now University). Dick graduated from Oregon State with a Bachelor of Science degree in Natural Resources.
On May 25, 1957 he married Nellie Brown. They had two sons: Dennis (Terri) of Boulder City, Nevada, and Jon, of Keizer, Oregon.
Dick and Nellie were avid members of the Sports Car Club of America. Nellie was the club secretary and Dick raced sports cars. Later they joined, and were active members at Trinity Methodist Church. While he still could, Dick volunteered regularly at the Trinity United Methodist food bank (the Lord’s Cupboard).
Dick worked as a draftsman/cartographer for the State of Oregon Department of Revenue.
Dick lived a life that will be remembered as an excellent husband and father, a man who loved car racing and playing baseball with his sons. His life is remembered by his sons as an engaged and dedicated father who lived life to the fullest.
Dick’s service will be on May 30, 2026 at the Albany Twin Oaks cemetery. It will begin at 1:00 PM and all are welcome.
