

Robert William White (Bob White), 71, of Salem Oregon, passed away May 24th at Salem Hospital due to multiple long term health issues. Bob was born in San Francisco, California on December 22, 1948. He graduated North Salem High School in 1966 and spent most of his life in the Salem area. Following High School Bob joined the United States Army and served on the frontlines of the Vietnam War as a heavy equipment repairman. After the war he worked in truck driving and management for Valley Oil Co., Les Schwab, and Deluxe Ice Cream.
Bob is survived by his son Ryan White and daughter Heather Gonzalez. He was a proud and loving grandpa to Kolby, Caleb, and Mackenzie White and to Logan Lewallen as well as a beloved uncle. Bob is also survived and loved by his girlfriend of many years, Patsy Dunmyre. He was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond and Dorothy White.
Anyone who had the privilege to know Bob loved him. He was the fun-loving life of every party, a strong man with an impeccable work ethic, and someone with a deep desire to seek out joy and humor in every opportunity. Cruising and car shows were some of Bob’s greatest passions. Throughout the years he owned various hot rods and custom cars and was considered a local celebrity at any car show he attended.
Bob will be missed by all who knew him and will never be forgotten.
A private graveside service for family is planned at Lee Mission Cemetery. A celebration of life for friends and family will be planned for later this summer as social gathering restrictions lift.
