Robert "Bob” "Brud" Fielder, 91, died peacefully September 26th, 2026, at his home in Salem. He was born in Prineville, OR to Richard and Mary (Stahancyk) Fielder on December 19, 1934. He was raised in Prineville and graduated from Crook County High School in 1953. Bob was part of the 1952 State Championship Football team and his school’s first wrestling team. He was also president of their Future Farmers of America Club. Bob loved his time in Prineville and enjoyed going back for family and class reunions.
After High School, Bob worked at Hudspeth Pine Sawmill; but realized “Not for him.”
His goal was to run his own farm, but times did not allow this. He switched to custom combining to earn money for college. He earned an Agriculture Degree from Oregon State College in 1959. He worked his entire career for the State of Oregon Tax Commission (now the Department of Revenue), initially appraising farmland in Eastern and Central Oregon and eventually rising to the levels of district supervisor and district coordinator. Bob served as president of the Oregon Society of Farm Managers and Rural Appraisers in 1980.
Bob met Pauline Weiland on a blind date in Portland, OR and hinted marriage on their third date. They wed June 18th, 1960, and were blessed with 2 daughters, Mary Patricia and Amy Elizabeth. They have lived in Salem, OR and attended Queen of Peace Catholic Church for the last 55 years.
Bob realized his dream of farming with the opportunity to manage Pauline’s family farm in Ashton, SD for 20 years. To this day, the Weiland Farm remains in the family.
He enjoyed genealogy, farming and family, especially at the cabin in MN with his 4 grandsons. He anticipated welcoming his first great grandson, in March 2027.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Richard and Mary Fielder of Lebanon, OR; and sisters Vonnie Mims and Dot McNamara.
Bob is survived by his wife of 66 years, Pauline; daughters Mary Corbin (Jamie) Urbandale, Iowa; and Amy Dodson (Jim) Portland; and 4 grandsons: Mitch, Danny, Joe and Will (Julia) Corbin.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday October 9th, 2026, at 11:00 at Queen of Peace Catholic Church. The Recitation of the Rosary will precede the service at 10:30. The Rite of Committal and Burial will be at Juniper Haven Cemetery in Prineville, OR on Sunday, October 11th.
