

Robert LaRue Iddings was born in Iowa on March 6, 1941, to LaRue and Elma Iddings. Having moved with family to Vancouver, Wa., Bob graduated from high school in Vancouver. He earned his Bachelor of Arts degree at Whitworth University, Spokane, Wa., his Masters of Divinity (Magna Cum Laude) at The University of Dubuque, Dubuque, Iowa, and began doctoral studies at Oral Roberts University in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
He served as a Minister of the Gospel in both the Presbyterian and Foursquare denominations. He pastored churches in Riceville, Iowa, Independence, Or., Dallas, Or., and Bellingham, Wa. Prior to his retirement in 2003 Bob worked in the dry cleaning business, as well as resident manager for several retirement centers. he was an active member at Salem First Church of the Nazarene. In his retirement, using the Greek text, he completed his own paraphrase of the New Testament. Bob died peacefully Monday morning, May 27, 2013, achieving his long-sought desire to be in the presence of Jesus.
He is survived by Donna (Iddings) Bauer, daughter Joanna French and Keith, son Jeffrey Barnes and Tori, of Salem, Oregon; son Michael Barnes and Lisa, of Roseburg, Or; grandsons Michael & Jacob French, bro-in-law Robert Newman and Kollette, all of Salem, Or.
A memorial service will be held Wednesday, June 5, 2pm, at the First Church of the Nazarene, 1550 Market St NE, Salem, Or.
