Ruth Hines

November 17, 1922 - September 9, 2011

Ruth Ilene carpenter Hines, 88 of Salem, Oregon passed into the arms of the Lord on September 9, 2011.

She was born on November 17, 1922 in Moundville, Missouri to Jess F. and Nora E. (Dickey) Carpenter.

She married James Hines on October 6, 1941 in Liberty Missouri. They resided for many years in the Arcadia, Kansas area before moving to Sheridan, Oregon in the spring of 1962.

In August 1963 they relocated to Salem, Oregon.

Ruth was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She enjoyed baking, cooking, crafts, gardening, reading and making quilts.

She was an excellent seamstress making her own clothes and also loved making things for her children and grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James, daughter Sandra Colene; parents Jess and Nora Carpenter and brother Boyd A. Carpenter.

Ruth is survived by two sons and one daughter; Jimmie L. Hines and wife Lina; Boyd Hines all of Salem, OR; daughter Donna K. Smith and husband Earl of Albany OR.

Grandchildren: Brent Smith, Scott Smith and wife Jodi of Albany, OR; LouAnn Knie Of Caldwell, ID; Larry A. Hines; James A. Hines and Leonora Hines of Salem, OR.

Great-grandchildren: Jessica Smith-Kasten of Vista, CA, Jacobi R. Smith, Dalton J. Smith, Dakota Q. Smith all of Albany, OR and James D. Knie and Bonnie Knie of Caldwell, ID.

Visitation Wednesday 1pm - 5pm at Howell-Edwards-Doerksen Funeral Home.

Funeral Services will be held at Willamette Memorial Park Chapel in Albany, OR, on September 15, 2011 at 10:30 am with interment following.
