Ruth LaFerne Ostrand passed away on April 11, 2023. Ruth was born on June 17, 1938, in California to Bernie and Berma Felton. She grew up in Washington, graduating from Snohomish High School in 1956. She married Robert (Bob) in 1970 and they had two children. She earned her nursing degree and was working as a medical assistant when she retired.
Ruth and Bob lived in Kirkland, Washington until 2004 when they moved to Olympia. They moved to Salem, Oregon in 2019 to be closer to their children.
Ruth was an expert seamstress and enjoyed making quilts and knitting afghans for her family. She played handbells and liked going to plays at local theatres. She spent her time reading and taking in the beauty of the Pacific Northwest.
Ruth is survived by her husband, Bob; children David, Cathy, and Cathy’s husband Paul; grandchildren Ashley, Lindsey, Sara, and Evan; great-grandchildren Faith and Armani; sisters Doris and Eileen; and several nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her sister Joanne and brother Earl.
At Ruth’s request, there will be no service, only memories.
