

SALEM – On October 25, 2021, Shirley went home to be with our Lord and joined her beloved husband, Winston. She was born July 18, 1939 to Walter and Helen Tamagni. Shirley was born and raised in Calistoga, CA and graduated from Calistoga High School in 1957. She married Winston Long on April 13, 1958 and they moved to England while he served in the Air Force. Together they served in the ministry when Winston pastored several churches. After Winston passed away, she stayed active in her church until she was no longer able to attend, and continued to host her friends Esther and Annette in weekly bible studies in her home. Shirley held a number of jobs during their marriage and retired from the Oregon Department of Motor Vehicles on January 1, 2006.
She is survived by her daughter Sherry Kessel; son Dave (Teresa) Long; daughter Jodi (David) Ocapan; Grandchildren Jamie (Erica) Long; LeeAnne (Travis) Drennan; Cariann Smith, Brian Long, Travis Elliott, Tai Avila, Ryan Avila and Dalton Plocher; great grandchildren Austin, Madison, Haven, Mariah, Kai, Addison and Ava. She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Winston, her brother Walter (Bocky) Tamagni, and daughter Jacquelyn Long.
The family wishes to thank her caregiver, Starla Stuwe, for her care of our precious mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. Words cannot adequately express our gratitude for your loving kindness.
Shirley had been diagnosed with Lewy Body dementia. Donations may be made in Shirley’s name to OHSU, Oregon Brain Bank. A memorial service is being held 2:00pm Saturday, November 20, 2021, at Virgil T. Golden Funeral Services in Salem, OR. Shirley and Winston will be laid to rest in a private ceremony in April, 2022, at Roseburg Memorial Gardens.
