Suzanne Leslie Brund Lamon passed on Friday, August 12, a short time after celebrating her 96th birthday. She was born on July 24, 1926 in Spokane, Washington and was raised in Eugene, Oregon with her brother William (Bill) Brund of Eugene. She graduated from Eugene High School and then Mills College in Oakland CA, serving as May Queen at both schools.
Suzanne married and raised 4 children who survive her, Leslie, Bruce, Barbara and Jack, living first in Berkeley and then moving to Piedmont, CA. She was an active tennis player, gardener and volunteer, especially enjoying supporting the Oakland Museum White Elephant Sales.
An extensive traveler, Suzanne moved to Lugano, Switzerland for 4 years in 1984, making many friends and learning Italian. She returned to Monmouth, Oregon to support her mother and immersed herself in many activities her mother had enjoyed, including the Garden Club and Senior Center. She continued playing tennis and attending water aerobics well into her eighties. She moved to Salem after her mother’s passing and became active in Camerata Musica, Willamette Valley Humane Society, and the Salem library, all while closely monitoring Salem and Willamette Valley politics.
Suzanne drove her beloved Corvette for 30 years and proudly displayed its picture next to those of her children.
Our family wishes to thank the Springs at Lancaster Village for their care and compassion as she transitioned from independent living. Additionally, we are grateful for the hospice services of Willamette Vital Health.
Suzanne’s friends are invited to join her family at an informal open house to share memories and celebrate a life well lived on Sunday, November 13 from 1:00 to 4:00 pm at 2865 N Pacific Highway W, Rickreall, OR 97371.
Donations in her honor may be made to Camerata Musica, the Willamette Valley Humane Society, or the charity of your choice.
