She was born in Kalispell, Montana on January 1, 1913, one of eight children born to Maude and Frank Jones. The Jones family migrated to Oregon when Sylvia was 3 ½ years old.
Sylvia met Albert Gerig in Salem, Oregon and after a short romance they were married on June 27th, 1931.
Sylvia was preceded in death by her husband Albert, sisters Millie, Nettie, Edna, and Ella Mae, brothers Alfred, John and Bud, granddaughter Micki Polk, and great grandson Jason Gerig.
Survivors include daughter Phyllis Neufeldt, son Robert Gerig (Marlene), daughter Charlotte Knupp (Eugene), and son Richard Geric (Maureen). She is also survived by many grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great great grandchildren.
