Theral J. Woodall, or “Woody” as his friends and loved ones called him, was born December 23rd, 1931 in Rupert, Idaho to Wesley and Norma Woodall. He grew up in Idaho, spending time in Pocatello, Albion, Burley, and Declo. After attending high school in Declo, he joined the US armed forces and served 4 years in the navy during the Korean War.
He served as a police officer for 26 years in Idaho and Oregon. However, Woody was not only a police officer and a soldier. He was a prospector, a pilot, and a bed and breakfast owner. He built a helicopter and had a pet mountain lion, a lynx, and a bear. He collected antique guns, he flipped houses, he ran businesses. He had an entrepreneurial mind and could turn a pile of mud into pure gold.
Though his life was not always easy, he said the Lord gave him peace in his final 18 years when he met his wife Betty who brought him great joy and friendship.
He is survived by his wife Betty, his siblings Nila, Gary, Gayle, and his three children Cryste, Brent, and Jacque. His grandchildren Brandon, April, Eric, and Angie have given him six great grandchildren. Services will be held at Emmanuel Bible Church in Pratum on Saturday, June 3rd at 2pm.
Arrangements under the direction of Howell-Edwards-Doerksen with Rigdon-Ransom Funeral Directors, Salem, Oregon.
