Tim was born to Francis Tranor Egan and Veronica Marion Olsen on October 9th, 1950, in Englewood, New Jersey. Tim is the youngest of four. After the death of his father at age 49, the Egans moved to west Los Angeles when Tim was nine and he attended Notre Dame Academy Grade School. In the school year of 1962-63 - early February – Linda’s family moved a little farther west and Linda was enrolled in Notre Dame Academy, and that’s when, after taking her seat, she saw Tim two rows over, and to this day she can recall what he was wearing and how he looked. They started dating in 1965.
In June of 1968 Tim graduated from Loyola High School For Boys and Linda graduated from Notre Dame Academy for Girls. They both attended Santa Monica Junior College. They married on August 8th, 1970, stayed in L.A. until 1979 when they took a trip to Oregon and purchased a five-acre beautiful piece of real estate on Silver Creek in Silverton, and in one month’s time their lived were changed for the better. It was a perfect place to raise their four-year-old daughter Jacy and two brown sheep named Lucy & Ethyl.
In 1984 Tim went back to college with hopeful plans of obtaining a different occupation and he excelled in his accomplishments. He became an Ultrasound Tech, with an emphasis of musculoskeletal diagnoses and, after leaving Portland Adventist, was hired by Salem Radiology Consultants from 1990 to the end of 2016 when he retired.
Over the years Tim enjoyed basketball “anywhere anytime” and made the Santa Monica City College basketball team. He earned his brown belt in Karate, he was passionate about Bonsai for decades until he passed away, and he favored classic rock music, especially the Eagles, David Bowie, Jackson Brown, etc.
But his real passion was outdoor gardening and indoor plants. He has transformed our homes’ gardens into masterpieces admired by all who visit. It was the best way he could temporarily and peacefully escape the reality of his illness. Up to the day before his second seizure on May 24th, Tim walked two and a half miles every day and continued to maintain the spacious grounds of our home.
Tim was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by brother Dennis Egan (Carolyn); sister Karen Cubelo; and brother Michael Egan. His daughter Jacy and his three grandchildren – Jake Lambert, Julia Lambert and Jackson Lambert in Oklahoma – survive him. He made the perfect “Papa”.
What made Tim so likable was his sense of humor and the ability to get along with almost everyone. He was loved by many who knew him and he will be sorely missed.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Tim’s memory can be made to the Oregon Humane Society.
A Celebration of Life gathering is October 1, 2022, 1:00 pm, at Virgil T. Golden Funeral service.
