He was born in Hamlet, Nebraska on May, 14 1927 to Carlos and Cora Mahaffey. Wayne graduated from Salem High School a year late because he was serving in WWII in the Navy.
His long time partner, Fran Adams and he were together 40 years as of his passing.
Wayne had a 30 year career as a machinist at Moore Business Forms.
He was a member of the Bent 8 Car Club and other Car Clubs and had a passion for anything classic cars, racing, restoring, and driving.
He is preceded in death by his parents and four brothers: Ray, Don, Virgil, and Dean.
He is survived by daughter Sharon Hadley and her husband Byron, son Mike Mahaffey and his wife Yvette, daughter Jill Weigel and her husband Jerry, and their mother Ella Racette.
Wayne is also survived by four grandchildren Sarah, Derek, Jorden and Brenna
