1937-2013
Bernard Charles Harpole, 75, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 5, 2013 at his home in South Jordan, UT, due to cancer of the parotid gland. He was born August 13, 1937 in Winterset, IA to Charles and Mary Joan (McDonald) Harpole.
Bernard grew up on a farm in Afton, Iowa, graduated from Rangely High School, CO, and attended LDS Business College. He enjoyed a number of various warehouse and contracted jobs, was a very conscientious, dependable hard worker. He loved outings with friends, vacations, and looked forward to the family’s yearly reunion. His quiet demeanor will be missed.
Bernard married Alice Jenkins in 1959, later divorced; married Marlene Buchanan on Nov. 4, 1969 in the Salt Lake Temple. He was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.
Bernard was preceded in death by his parents and sons Greg and Clyde. He is survived by one sister Shirley Ann (Kenneth) Loomis, children Tim (Juli), Valerie, Rebecca (David) Nicholson, Kirk (Wendi), and 14 grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at the LDS chapel, 4200 West Skye Drive (9800 South) on Saturday, March 9 at 11:00 am. The family will meet with friends and visitors prior to services at the church from 9:30-10:45 am. Interment will be at Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park South Valley.
