Born March 8, 1930 to Robert J. and Helen Egbert Burton in Grace, Idaho. The oldest of five children, Betty served an LDS mission in the Central States. She was the first female missionary from her stake. After returning home she attended LDS Business College. Betty married Dale Walker Stevens on May 3, 1957 in the Salt Lake Temple. Together they raised two children, David and Donna, in Holladay, Utah. She was a sweet and caring person who loved life and the simple joys of motherhood. She spent countless hours in her husband’s workshop located in the basement of their home where Dale produced hand-made violins. Betty was faithful in her testimony of Christ and remained true to the covenants she made as a member of the LDS Church serving diligently in many capacities, her favorite calling being that of wife and mother. She is now reunited with beloved members of her family who preceded her in death including her parents, husband Dale, son David and her sister Elaine Carter. She is survived by her daughter Donna Stevens, sister Barbara Johnson and brothers Bob and Jim Burton. She is also survived by her life-long friend Carl Farnworth who Betty considered a brother because he loved and served her like he was one.
Many thanks to Kent & Wendi Jackson and children for countless hours spent serving Betty and her family. Additional thanks to Janet Pace and Sue Ashton for their selfless service to Betty over many years. Thanks also to the staff of Highland Care Center for their loving care over the last 18 months.
