The heavens welcomed Connie Davis Sheffield on April 12, 2018. She was born in Ogden, Utah, on October 16, 1935, to Frank and Hattie Davis and was raised in California. She attended Brigham Young University where she met her best friend, Paul B. Sheffield, who became her eternal companion on November 12, 1955. They lived in California nearly 18 years before moving to Holladay, Utah, in 1973, where they built a home on Old Colony Circle (soon to be called by her grandchildren “Old Connie Circle”) where they lived for the next 43 years.
Connie will forever be remembered for the love and devotion she gave to her five children: Jana (Brent) Erickson, Vicki (Paul) Halliday, David Sheffield, Mark Sheffield (Julie Stafford), and Stacy (Tom) Hannay Flowers. She adored her 12 treasured grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren, who knew her as “Grandma Con” and “GG.” She is much loved by her three sons-in-law, her late daughter-in-law Anne Whittlesey Sheffield, her late son-in-law, Jeffrey Hannay, and siblings Karen (Aaron) Hemsley, Don (Judy) Davis, Mary (Steve) Scribner, and Cheryl (Mark) Davey.
After raising her kids, her passion for quilting led to her owning and operating her fabric and gift shop. Gentler Times was a destination of quilters throughout Utah for more than 20 years. Her amazing creativity and her special bond with talented employees made it a most favored place to shop and attend classes. It was the fulfillment of a dream, the only career she ever wanted except for being a wife, mother and grandma.
Connie made every home in which she lived a beautiful bit of heaven on earth. She loved gardening, reading, decorating for every season of the year, and playing card games with her family. She touched so many lives with her gentle nature, her compassion, and her kindness. As a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints she maintained a strong testimony and loved daily reading the Book of Mormon. Words cannot express how deeply she will be missed.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, April 20, at the Holladay 28th Ward, 2625 Milo Way, Holladay, Utah, 84117. Friends and family are welcome to visit from 10:00 to 10:45 a.m. Funeral services will begin at 11:00 a.m. Internment at Wasatch Lawn will follow.
