Dale was born February 23, 1958 in Boise, Idaho, to Frank and Alice Neilson. He grew up in Cokeville, Wyoming, and graduated from Cokeville High School in 1976.
In 1977 he served a two-year mission in Pennsylvania.
Dale met his sweetheart, Brenda, in Logan, Utah and they were married in the Salt Lake City temple on May 23, 1986. They adopted their son Andrew in 1992 and their daughter Alicia in 1997. Which fulfilled his dream of becoming a Dad.
He graduated with a bachelor’s degree in journalism from the University of Utah in 1994 even though he was an avid BYU fan. Along with being the greatest stay at home dad in the world, he also did freelance writing. He enjoyed writing most about good things people were doing in the community. Even though, sports came a close second.
Dale was full of love, compassion, humor, and the want to serve as much as he could. He loved serving his church, the community and his family.
He is preceded in death by his father Frank and brother Dean.
He is survived by his mother Alice, sisters Irene, Margene, Norma, and brothers David and Paul. Dale is also survived by Brenda, his wife of 32 years, his two children, Andrew and Alicia, and one granddaughter, Aurora.
