1955-2017
Our dearly loved husband, father, grandfather, and brother passed away on August 21, 2017 at 61, after his short but aggressive battle with cancer.
David was born November 7, 1955 in Santa Rosa, CA, to William Leon and Mary Alice Dunlap. He was the oldest of five, having two younger sisters and two younger brothers.
David served in the United States Navy as a supervisor in nuclear submarine propulsion. He attended college at the University of Idaho, earning his Bachelor’s Degree in Nuclear Technology. While working towards earning his degree, he met his wife and the love of his life, Mary Lou Clark. Together they had
Four children.
He worked as a nuclear engineer at Idaho National Energy Laboratory for 16 years. After leaving Idaho, he moved to Tennessee to work for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital as an Operations and Maintenance Manager. He loved his time at St. Jude and was proud of the work that he was able to be a part of while there. David will be remembered for his love of God, family and country. Those who know his best will never forget his big belly chuckle, his love and passion for music, his patience and most of all his “dad jokes.”
Survived by his wife of 33 years, Mary Lou, his children Katelin (Micah Black), Kristopher, Megan (Cody) Williams, Trevor (Lacy Cram), Nichole Zayac, Heather Zayac, and eight grandchildren. He is also survived by his sisters, Cathy and Jennifer and brothers, Steve and Greg.
He was loved beyond words. He will be sorely missed and his absence will leave a void in the hearts of many who were privileged to know him.
David will be placed to rest at Camp Williams Veteran’s Cemetery in Bluffdale, Utah. A viewing will be held for any that would like to attend on Thursday, August 31 from 7-8:30pm at Wasatch Lawn Mortuary, 3401 South Highland Drive, Salt Lake City, Utah.
