DeLyle H Condie

November 28, 1934January 17, 2014

DeLyle H. Condie never was a good bench warmer; therefore, his entire life he took his 6 foot 5 inch frame into the action.

Born on November 28, 1934 in Preston, Idaho the 8th of 10 children of Parley and Mary Wilson Condie. DeLyle passed away following complications from surgery on January 17, 2014.

Upon entering the University of Utah he played basketball every year and, as a Runnin’ Ute, was named First Team All-Conference and Honorable Mention All-American.

It was in college he met the love of his life, Judy Christensen. They were married December 1959 prior to leaving to attend law school at the University of Michigan. Upon graduation, DeLyle served in the JAG corps of the US Air Force.

As a member of the LDS church, he served a mission in Australia, and while there organized and played for the Mormon Yankees team. They played and defeated many of the 1956 Olympic teams.

Throughout his life, he held a number of church callings; his favorite was as bishop of the second-organized Singles ward in the LDS church.

A true supporter of the U of U, he served as a member of the Alumni Board. He also served as chairman of the Utah Chapter of the American Diabetes Association.

In 2005, DeLyle and Judy moved to Australia where he served as Assistant International Legal Council for the LDS Church.

With an active law practice and enjoyment of foreign travel, DeLyle was always busy, but his family always came first. He was involved in their lives and will be missed by his survivors: wife, Judy Condie, Christopher (Anne) Condie, Liz (Stan) Roberts, Jennifer Bailey, Adam (Diana) Condie, and Mikel (Jason) Curry; 15 grandchildren, 1 great grandchild and his surviving sister, Norma Lisonbee.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, January 23, 2014 at noon at the Mt. Olympus Stake Center; Address: 4176 Adonis Dr. SLC, Utah. (4176 South 3930 East) Friends may visit family on Wednesday the 22nd from 6 to 8 p.m. at Wasatch Lawn Mortuary, 3401 South Highland Dr. SLC Utah.

Dear Condie Family, We have been out of town and just heard about Delyle's passing. Just to echo the sentiments already expressed, what a great impression Delyle made on the young men in the old 10th Ward. Lots of fond memories and lessons I still draw on today. He is not forgotten and the impression he made on me made still endures.

Dear Judy and family,
I am so sorry for your loss of DeLyle - far too premarure. It's been a long time since we lived in your ward -his white hair was black - but I remember him well as a very kind, very capable man. You were a good friend, Judy; I admired you greatly, and you are far too young to lose your mate. My prayers are with you. Take comfort in happy memories. My deepest sympathy. Love,
Carolyn Nelson(Curtis

Dear Condie family, I have such fond memories of your beautiful family and the times we spent with you raising our children together in EMC 10th ward. You are a wonderful family. My heart goes out to you all--our family knows too well how broken your hearts must feel right now. I'm sure LeeR greeted DeLyle with a big bear hug--he had such fond feelings and admiration for DeLyle. May the Lord bless you with peace and comfort in knowing that you will be together again someday. Love to you all, Karen

Dear Judy and Condie family. I just want you to know what a tremendous influence Delyle had on me and I am sure every young man in the East Millcreek 10th Ward. It addition to being a great example, he was a wonderful neighbor to all of us who lived in the Millcreek Canyon area. Last time I saw Delyle was when my mother passed away. He handled all of the legal documents for her. He will be greatly missed.
