Born September 26th, 1933 in Salt Lake City, to Donna Vee Williamson and DeWitt Johnson Paul, he moved with his family to New Jersey as a child, where he graduated from Montclair High School.
DeWitt served a three-year mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in France, Belgium, and Switzerland after which he attended Brigham Young University, The University of Paris (Sorbonne) France, and Harvard Business School.
On August 20th, 1960 he married the love of his life, Carolyn Campbell, in the Los Angeles, California Temple.
DeWitt worked for Johnson & Johnson for 14 years, during which time he spent several years in Guatemala as Managing Director over Central America. He went on to work for Lifesavers, Beneficial Corporation, Avco Financial, and American Savings Bank before founding his own company, Cotton Buds, which he sold in 2017.
A health fanatic, he enjoyed skiing, playing tennis, and hiking with friends and family, but was always known for his obsession for running. He was a pioneer of the marathon, participating competitively in races all around the country, the Boston and Deseret News being among his favorites. He always led his division, and in fact, set a record for his age with a 2:44 time at the Deseret News. He loved biking in his latter years, doing “century” rides well into his 80’s and was able to do his last outing with friends just a month before his passing.
DeWitt loved to travel and was able to share “the world” with his family as he planned and financed annual family reunions and other events throughout his life. Family was always his priority!
A loving husband, a devoted father, a loyal friend, and a faithful member of his church, DeWitt will be missed by many!
He is survived by his wife Carolyn, their five children; Deborah (Brandon) Balkman, DeWitt (Jean) Paul, Cherilyn (Bill) Hoffman, Brad (Kristi) Paul, Matthew (Samantha) Paul, their 18 Grandchildren and 11 Great Grandchildren, sister Sharon Lee, and brothers, Brent, Randall, Eric, and Greg.
