Elizabeth Matilda Allen (Glen) passed away Saturday, April 10, 2021, at the age of 97, at home in Salt Lake City, Utah

Elizabeth was born September 30, 1923 in Camberwell, London, England to John William Glen and Mary Greenfield as the youngest of 5 children. She said that she had a wonderful childhood and was grateful for the love of her family. When England entered World War II, Elizabeth also entered the RAF in service to her country. She trained as an aero-engine fitter and was sent to Great Rissington to work on Wellington bombers and Spitfire fighter planes. While there, she met the love of her life, Farrell Allen, who was serving in the 830th Engineer Aviation Battalion of the United States Army. Farrell was soon sent to France. Shortly after the war in Europe ended, they were married in St. Andrew’s church in Catford, London, England. Farrell was soon sent back to duty in Germany. Later she traveled to the United States on the Queen Mary, reunited with Farrell, and settled into life in Salt Lake City. They were later sealed in the Salt Lake Temple.

Elizabeth was interested in gardening, knitting, crocheting, cooking, service, family history work and was happy to talk about family to everyone who asked about them. She had a testimony of forever families and had sacred experiences that confirmed the truthfulness of this to her. She loved her family and we are grateful for the support she gave in so many of the events in our lives. Our fondest memories were the family gatherings she provided during the holidays.

Elizabeth experienced many hardships and trials in life many of which she passed through with her family. She said that she had been given much joy and many blessings, and that she was grateful to her Heavenly Father for all of those things.

She loved working with grandpa in Farrell Allen Display.

In death she is reunited with her husband, Farrell, children; Leslie and Dean, grandchildren; Shawn and Jeri, her parents, siblings; Mary Jane, John, Harry and Mary, and others whom she loved so much.

Elizabeth is survived by her children; Linda (the late Larry Mackay), Susan, George (Melynda), and john (Ann), many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, and nieces.

Heartfelt thanks to daughters; Linda and Susan, who took care of mom and grandma for so many years , and Bristol Hospice caregivers who so kindly cared for her, especially Dina, Megan and Caitlyn.

A graveside service will be held Wednesday, April 14th at 1:00PM at Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park, 3401 South Highland Drive, Salt Lake City, Utah.
