Floyd C. Moulton
March 2, 1924 – September 8, 2018
Floyd Chase Moulton—loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle and friend, passed away peacefully on September 8, 2018, at the age of 94, at his home in Holladay, Utah.
Floyd was born on March 2, 1924, in Heber City, Utah, to Hyrum Chase Moulton and Margaret Lillian Cummings. He was the sixth of eleven children and grew up in Heber City until the age of twelve when he moved with his family to Salt Lake City.
Floyd was the first 18-year old in Salt Lake City drafted into the United States Army Air Force, on March 1, 1942. He became an Instrument Mechanic in a fighter squadron. His highest rank was Staff Sergeant in World War II where he spent “2 years, 9 months, 7 days and 3 hours” in England, France and Italy serving his beloved country. Floyd was always “true” to the “red, white and blue” and a very stalwart Patriot!
Floyd attended Brigham Young University, where he earned his Bachelor and Master of Science in Geology degrees, and met his sweetheart Anna “Elaine” Sorensen, whom he married on January 31, 1951, in the Salt Lake Temple. Floyd was a wonderful father of four children and devoted his life in their behalf. He had “many” friends and associates, enjoyed the outdoors, and was dedicated to his work as an avid Geologist.
Floyd served faithfully in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in all his callings, including Bishop, High Councilor and Stake Presidency. His genuine love to help, care for, and serve others was readily seen in many aspects of his life.
Floyd is survived by his sister Mardene Folkersen and brother Dale; Two children, Janene (Jim) Kauffman and Nancy (Sheldon) LaMont; seven grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife Elaine, daughter Jane Mardene and son Lynn Chase.
Funeral Services will be held Saturday, September 15, 2018 at 12:00 Noon at the church at 5565 South Neighbor Lane (1600 East), Salt Lake City, Utah. Friends may call Friday evening, September 14, from 6:00 – 8:00p.m. at Wasatch Lawn Mortuary and Memorial Park, 3401 South, Highland Drive, Salt Lake City, Utah, and Saturday, September 15, at the church from 11:00 – 11:45a.m.
