You were the best neighbor a young girl could have - we strung walkie talkie cans from your back porch to mine and talked through the night. You were also a fine college friend - you, the guiding SAE, me the fledgling Pi Phi. I'm so glad we met again when I returned to SLC: judge to judge, and that you were so happy in your life! It was wonderful to work with Judge Davis. He was always supportive, always friendly, always knowledgeable, and always quotable. He had a greater amount of common sense and perspective on life than anyone I have ever known. We all miss him. My love to JZ, Paula, Chrystal, Macey, and Annie.

Jim and I were fraternity brothers in the mid 60s.  It was this time and experience I came to know Jim as an absolutely marvelous fellow.  He was bright, intuitive, insightful, and just one hell of a lot of fun.  We went out with the brothers often and it was always a treat.  Not only did you have fun when Jim was along, but you learned something.  After college, I lost track of Jim though I knew he had gone on to law school.  Then, while serving on a fire base 5 miles South of the DMZ in Viet Nam, I get a message from Jim.  How he found me, I do not know, but I spent a weekend staying in the bachelor officer's quarters in Phu Bai (as I recall) - a sink, clean sheets, a shower, oh man!.  It was the most pleasant couple of days of the war for me.  And it was what Jim did.  I regret not making a greater effort to reconnect with Jim over the years and now it is over.  I am saddened.  He was one of a kind.  

My condolences to Jim's son JZ whom I have not met and his wife.  Also it is wonderful that Jim had the pleasure of a grandchild if even for a short time.

RIP, Jim:  It was wonderful to reconnect with you several years ago and I treasure the times we spent remembering and reliving our close friendship during our DeMolay days in high school and Army ROTC days in college.  We'll miss you, Jim.

To Jim's Family and Friends:  Please accept my personal condolences at Jim's passing.  He was 4 years my senior at Ray Quinney & Nebeker and always a force for good.  I have not known many attorneys with the capacity to ply the trade with such good human sense, humor and even joviality.  He was one of a kind and was a friend to all of us.  I was personally saddened to seem him leave the firm and am saddened even more to hear of his leaving us all.  I know him to have been a truly good man, sincere and caring and always willing to give a positive and cheering word to us all.  With sincere sympathy and best wishes.  Let your memories of a good man console and sustain you.  He was one such good man.

So sorry to hear about your Dad.  He taught me so much in the year that I worked for him, both professionally and humanly.  I am so glad to have known him.

We became acquainted with Jim when our son met and married Annie.  We were welcomed into Jim's home for various gatherings and always treated like valued guests.  Jim was affable and engaging with a self deprecating humor as  well as always interested in everyone else's thoughts and opinions.  He knew how to make others feel at ease in his presence.  Jim kindly offered support and guidance to our son, Jake, with whom he had a caring friendship built on mutual respect.  We will miss our times spent together with Jim along with JZ, Crystal, Macey, and dear Paula.  Thank you for bringing us into your family circle.  We send love to Annie and Jake, too, as they also mourn the loss of this special man.  You are all in our thoughts and prayers during this sad, difficult time.
