Last month Jeff was diagnosed with stage four colon cancer. The diagnosis was surprising since Jeff had no prior symptoms. Immediately, Jeff underwent procedures to prepare for upcoming scheduled chemo treatments. Doctors encouraged Jeff to go on their planned family vacation to Disneyland a week later. Though Jeff was weak, he managed to ride the rides, make his children smile and spent precious time with his family. Returning home, Jeff prepared for upcoming chemo treatments; however, due to his health, there were some delays. Friday afternoon, Roberta was inspired to call the doctor. After returning to the hospital and finishing tests, the results stated that Jeff only had a few hours in this mortal life.
Jeff lived and testified of the Plan of Salvation. He accepted his Heavenly Father’s will and courageously lived his last remaining hours expressing his love and gratitude to others. His words comforted and brought peace to all his loved ones. He died the way he lived, peacefully and faithfully, without guile or complaint. He returned to his Father in Heaven and will continue to serve and love those he left behind according to the will of the Lord; for Jeff knows of the Lord’s love for all of God’s children and that He has a plan for each and every one.
Jeff was born in Glendale, California on December 11, 1969. At the age of 11, his family moved to Thousand Oaks, California. Jeff graduated from Thousand Oaks High School in 1988. Jeff is survived by his parents- Roy and Susie Sherman. Siblings: Dave (Lori) Sherman, Danny (Brittni) Sherman, Lori (Dave) Watts, Matt (Eleisha) Sherman, Denise (Ben) Wilkes, and Tammy (John) Keating, and many nieces and nephews.
Jeff was generous with his time and talents. Jeff continued to serve within The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and with the Boy Scouts of America. He was quick to volunteer his service to family, friends, neighbors and ward members. He served with joy and inspired others to be more Christ like.
