

ALS (Lou Gehrig’s Disease). Born on December 15, 1939 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Castulo
Delgado Martinez and Domitila Rivera. Married Joan Louise Pettit September 17, 1964. Married
Angie Erickson November 11, 1996.
Joel was a faithful member of the LDS Church. He served in many callings in the many wards
he lived in. He served his 3 year mission in the entire Central American area. Joel's greatest
contribution was the 46 seasons of youth football he coached. He had a lasting teaching impact
on many young men. He coached the Granite Farmers, Cottonwood Colts, Brighton Bengals,
Jordan Beetdiggers, Skyline Eagles and Alta Hawks. At Brighton he had many successful years,
winning many Ute Conference Championships including several with his grandson Christian
Nielsen. Late in life he hung up his whistle for an amateur singing career. Survived by son
Damon (Stephanie) Martinez and daughters; Tonia (Aaron) Nielsen, Alicia (Christian) Miskin,
Danica (Jim) Salamenta and 13 grand children; 2 great grand children.
A Viewing will be held on Friday March 4, 2016 from 11 am to 1 pm at 1265 E 11000 S. Funeral
Services will be held after the viewing from 1pm to 2 pm with a graveside dedication after at
Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park 3401 S Highland Dr.
