John Dakis passed away peacefully at home with his family by his side on April 22, 2016 in Sandy, Utah. John was born April 5, 1933 in Chania, Crete, Greece. He was one of four children born to Emanuel and Kyriaki Papanikoloudakis. He married his devoted wife, Anastasia Maroudis, in 1964 in Cyprus. They emigrated to Detroit, Michigan in 1969, where John worked for Chrysler and Ford. In 1982 he moved his family to Utah and opened Zorba's Kitchen in Trolley Square. Zorba's was also a fixture at the Utah State Fair for many years. John is survived by his wife, his sons Manoli, Constantine (Lindsey), and George (Kimberly). Also survived by two sisters, Marika Papadogiannis and Katina Hatsios, and two grandchildren Nikolas and Eleni.
