Loraine Carol Beck

Loving and devoted wife, mother, grandma, sister, aunt and friend passed away peacefully on April 11, 2016 at the age of 89.Loraine was born August 24, 1926 to Lorenzo Skeen Butler and Edna Elvera Lang in Magna, Utah. She and her two sisters loved to play in the yard until the Kennecott whistle blew. They would run home to greet their father. In her young teenage years, Loraine's mother passed away suddenly. Lorenzo met and married Mildred Estella Boren. Mildred became a great blessing to Loraine and her sisters and they loved her as their mother too. Throughout her life, Loraine had a great love for sewing, crocheting and all kinds of crafts. Loraine met and married the love of her life, William Kenneth Beck June 23, 1945 in Reno, Washoe, Nevada. Her granddaughters Sophie and Isabel remember her as always smiling and could always make them laugh in any situation. They loved to visit her and she loved to be with them. Loraine's dear friend Brenda Paredes was treated as a daughter and her son Phillip as a grandson. Loraine was very close with her sisters Jean and Fern and with her dear brother Dennis Butler. Loraine worked for many years as a lunch lady in the Granite School District. Loraine was also a devoted member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She served in many ward callings but her favorite was serving in the Primary. She loved to teach children. Loraine also had a beautiful voice, sang in the ward choir, and loved to sing hymns. Whoever got to know her loved her dearly. She will be missed, but will be remembered for her sense of humor, wonderful smile, and joy she gave everyone. She was preceded in death by her son Bruce, her husband William, her sister Jean and brothers-in-law Gosta Berling and William B Gourley Sr. She is survived by her daughter Kathleen (Robert) Hebdon, granddaughters Sophie and Isabel, her sister Fern Berling, her brother Dennis (Virginia) Butler, and many nieces and nephews. Loraine's family appreciates the tender and compassionate care of the staff at Legacy Retirement Residence, Legacy House Assisted Living Center and Aspire Home Health and Hospice of Utah. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, April 14, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at River Ridge 9th Ward Chapel, 1409 West 9800 South (Shields Lane), South Jordan, Utah. A viewing will be held at 10:00 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. at the River Ridge 9th Ward Building.
