Marcell Eugene Bridges left his earthly home May 3, 2013. Eugene was born March 20, 1929, in Fairview, WY, the son of Aldon Marcell and Estella Evelyn Nebeker Bridges. He grew up in Bear Lake Valley where he met the love of his life, Zenna Mae Schmid, daughter of Robert and Nellie Schmid, Bern Idaho. Eugene and Zenna Mae were sealed for time and eternity November 21, 1947 in the Logan, Utah LDS Temple. They welcomed 7 children into their home: Eugene Lamont Bridges "Lonnie” (deceased); Julia Ann Edwards, SLC, UT; Melissa Leigh (Scott) Wood, Rexburg, ID; David Kevin (Teena) Bridges, SLC, UT; Cynthia Marie (David) Mortensen, Las Vegas, NV; Laurie Michele (Robert) Mays, SLC, UT; and Jonathan Charles (Christina) Bridges, SLC, UT. Eugene was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, and friend. Eugene and Zenna welcomed many into their home who needed a place to stay. Eugene had a zest for life and the ability to truly love and care about people. He loved to laugh and joke with others wherever he went. He had the ability to love people for who they were, and was never critical of others. Eugene was a hard worker. He worked for First Security Bank in the Trust Services Department for 40 years where he was a Vice President. He was Secretary of the Utah State Senate for 4 years. Eugene was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served faithfully in all his church callings. In 1994, Eugene and Zenna served a full time mission in Raleigh, NC under President Arnold Christensen. Eugene had many hobbies. Aviation was his passion; he built his own plane. He also built a boat with his brother-in-law, Marvin Schmid. He spent time camping, fishing, hunting, boating, and traveling with family and friends. Eugene is survived by his wife of 65 years, Zenna Mae, Las Vegas, NV; 6 children/spouses; sister, Toni Lou (Darrell) Mallory; 11 brothers and sisters-in-law; 22 grandchildren; and 36 great grandchildren.
