Michael William Long, 1980-2016, our Precious Celestial Huggie Bear, born June 9, 1980, passed away peacefully from our earthly arms into the arms of our Heavenly Father, in the early morning hours of October 18, 2016. Michael was born, the 6th child of Adrian Keith Jr. and Elisabeth Thompson Long. Lis having known of his predisposition before birth, had no idea of what blessings this sweet angel boy would bring to the life of his family, and all of those who came to know of him. Michael was sent, in his special form, to teach our family patience, endurance and unconditional love. Michael was smarter than the average bear, keeping us on our toes and one-step ahead of him to ensure his safety. He enjoyed things that most people would take for granted. , which made us gain more appreciation for the “silly little things.” Our family aspired him to be a great entrepreneur in the toy testing business, as he would test the most and least expensive objects to their greatest limits. Anything that made noise, from a musical keyboard, to a heavy garden squash, he fully enjoyed its full potential, even if it got baptized the in the bathroom toilet. Michael attended DDI, Schools for the Blind, Hartvigsen and graduated from Jordan Valley. Michael’s latter years were spent with his special host mother and brother, Pam and Travis. 18 years of happy memories, as Michael was quite the escape artist. Once Michael stealthily escaped his bed in the middle of the night for an entire loaf of bread, ate his entire chocolate birthday cake, and was caught drinking from the kitchen sink as he let out his loud “Happy” sounds. Although his tummy was full and bloated, he was the Happiest Boy ever. Michael enjoyed his time with all of his family, up to his recent years of loving his new host home with Nancy and Peter Dolle. Michael has been forever loved, supported and survived by his mother, Elisabeth, Step-father Thomas L. Jones, his brother Tyler and Brother-in-law Gary (Barnson), sisters Jennifer (Gary), Emery and Kelly. A special thanks to his Host parents, Pam, Nancy and Peter, also his Specialists, Doctors, Nurses, Care Providers and Day Center staff members. Most importantly, a huge “Vuv Vuv” to Michael’s nephews, nieces, cousins and friends. All those who knew Michael have all been surrounded by his special love, but also kept their short distance of his quick reflexes of a toy sailing through the air, a big ‘ol slug to the arm, or his infamous hair pulling that pulled even the strongest of men down for the count. Preceded in death by his loving Father Adrian Keith Long, Beautiful sister Mindy and loving Grandparents William and Eileen Thompson and Adrian Keith and Betty Long who have Michael unto Heaven with open arms. Memorial services will be held Tuesday, October 25, 2016 at 11:00 AM in the Cottonwood 13th Ward, 1830 East 6400 South.
