Michael David Richards, loving son, brother and friend, passed away February 10, 2015. Michael was born in Ventura, California. He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He graduated from Copper Hills High School and was attending Utah Valley University where he was studying Criminal Justice. He was employed by the state of Utah at the Genesis Youth Facility.
Michael had an incredible smile that would put you at ease. Although he was big and strong, he was gentle, compassionate, caring and a leader.
Michael was creative and pursued his dreams. For example, Halloween was his favorite Holiday and he always liked to go above and beyond for trick-or-treaters. During winter he would build a giant snowman for everyone to see. If he had an idea, he would do anything to make it happen. He liked to turn things into a competition; he just wanted to be the best.
His friends were a big impact in Michael’s life. Michael recently bought a Tahoe so he could fit him and all of his friends in one car to go on spontaneous road trips together.
Michael was the life of the party, always smiling, laughing and making jokes.
He knew electronics very well. If something stopped working or came unwired, he knew exactly what it was and how to fix it. His family members always turned to him because he knew it all.
Michael received outstanding grades throughout his years of schooling and always received awards. He worked full-time and went to school, but maintained time for family and friends. He excelled in everything he did and was a perfectionist with his work. Instead of having someone else do it or showing them how, he would rather just do it himself even though he was very patient.
He loved to see movies and enjoyed good food. He loved comedy T.V. Shows and comedians; he loved to laugh.
Although he liked to stay inside, he would always want to go to the mountains, go camping and fishing, but as soon as he got there he would complain about how much he hated it, and would never leave or stop fishing. He did not like to get dirty, even as a kid.
He followed after his father and was willing to help anyone who needed it. He was dad’s best friend, co-worker and his right-hand man.
Being the only son he was the definition of a momma’s boy. He was her rock, someone she leaned on, always wanting to make her proud.
To Samantha, he was her protector and to Rachael, his laughing companion.
Michael was preceded in death by his grandfather, Robert E. Richards and his aunt Renae Stuart.
Michael is survived by his parents, David and Sandra Richards, his sisters Samantha and Rachael Richards, lots of aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
He is loved and will be sorely missed.
