

Norman Victor Hancock passed away May 18, 2016 from causes incident to age. He was born in West Weber, Utah on November 23, 1921 to Victor C. Hancock and Edith Elizabeth Buck. He was the first child of eight children. He graduated from the then new Ogden High School in 1941 and from Weber College in 1942. He married Genivee Cottle on July 15, 1942 in the LDS Logan Temple. Norman served in the U.S. Marine Corps during WWII. He first joined the 2nd Mormon Battalion, platoon 679 and was later assigned to the 4th Marine Corps Division, Company B, 4th Pioneer Battalion and served in the Pacific Theater in the campaigns of the Marshall Islands, Saipan, Tinian and Iwo Jima.
Norman was a faithful and dedicated member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He loved the Lord and was His valiant servant. He served in many LDS Church positions including Elders Quorum President, Bishop, Stake Mission President, Stake Executive Secretary and home teacher.
Norman graduated with an advanced degree from Utah State University in Wildlife Management. He worked for 35 years for the State of Utah Wildlife Department and Division of Wildlife Management. He was active in many professional national and state organizations. He loved the outdoors and the wonder and beauty of nature.
He is preceded in death by his eternal sweetheart Genivee and his infant daughter Jeannette as well as his siblings Clifton, Dean, Thelma, Mary, and Dwain. He is survived ty his daughters Jeannine Hancock and Connie Kelsey (Scott). He also leaves behind 7 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.
He was a gentle, kind, caring dear soul and he will be greatly missed.
The viewing will be May 25th from 7PM to 8:30PM at the Wasatch Lawn Mortuary, 3401 Highland Drive, Salt Lake City, Utah. The funeral will be at the LDS Chapel at 1100 East and 1700 South on May 26th at 12:00 Noon. A viewing will be held at the Chapel from 11:00 to 11:45. Burial will be at Wasatch Lawn.
