Born August 24, 1935 to Joseph Fay and Marie Allen Van Wagoner. He attended Wasatch High School and Utah State University. He married Claire Davis, his sweetheart and life companion on January 14, 1956 in Midway, Utah. Allen was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.
Known by all who loved him as Al. He was a wonderful husband, father, and grandfather. His legacy is his family, the most precious and special part of his life. He enjoyed taking his sons pheasant hunting, golfing and camping. He was a big fan of the Utah Jazz, Utah State University, and later University of Utah. Later in life he began tinkering in the garage building birdhouses. He spent countless hours with his grandchildren taking them on one adventure after another. During his long illness, his eyes would shine whenever the grandchildren came around. Allen had a successful and long career, over 40 years, with Goodyear Tire and Rubber. You could often find him giving rides to his boys through the warehouse.
Allen is survived by his wife, Claire Davis Van Wagoner; children, Brad (Patti) Van Wagoner, Bryan (Corbi) Van Wagoner, Steve Van Wagoner; 5 grandchildren, BJ (Tori) Van Wagoner, Andy (Lori) Van Wagoner, Brianna (Paul) Nelson, Curtis (Cassie) Van Wagoner, and Davis (Kelsi) Van Wagoner. He had 8 great-grandchildren that he adored and several cousins. His parents and his brother and sister in law, Lynn and Carole Davis preceded him in death.
We would like to thank the staff at Garden Terrace for taking good care of him in his final weeks.
Services will be held Tuesday, March 17 at 11:00 at the Winder 5th Ward, 1361 E. 4000 So. in Salt Lake City, Utah. The family will receive friends Monday, March 16, from 6-8 pm at Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park and 10:00 the day of services. Interment will be at the Midway City Cemetery.
