1934-2018
Raymond Cornell Vest, 83, passed away on March 19, 2018 at home. He battled dementia in his later years, but never stopped bragging about his children and grandchildren. He still continued to talk about getting a new Honda, even though he couldn’t drive.
He was born in Lynndyl, Utah on October 7th, 1934 to Myron Cornell and Alean Mary Talbot Vest.
He attended Delta High School (Home of the Rabbits. He was involved in many sports in high school, and didn’t hesitate to tell anyone who would listen all about it.
He attended BYU and Henagers College.
He coached Little League Baseball and enjoyed U of U Basketball and Football. His daughter, Sheri, played basketball at West High and the U of U. Dad never missed one of her games.
He worked at Kennecott Copper and Utah Employment Security. He retired in 1996, but always said he worked part-time as a pain in the butt.
He married Bonnie Ardell Riding in the Manti Temple on June 25, 1954. He was active in the LDS Church and served in several capacities including High Council, High Priest and Bishopric. He was also a one man neighborhood watch crew.
He is survived by his wife Bonnie, children; Bruce Raymond (LaDonna), Sheri Lynn, Dean Cornell, John Myron, Jaleen Ardell Willis (Frank) and Mark Lionel. He is also survived by 15 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by parents, brothers; Gene, Bob, Norman and infant sister, Pauline.
A viewing will be held on Friday, March 23, 2018 from 6:00PM to 8:00PM at the Rose Park Stake Center East Chapel, 760 North 1200 West. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 24th at 11:00AM. There will be a viewing prior to the services from 9:45AM to 10:45AM. Interment will be in the Lynndyl, Utah Cemetery under the direction of Wasatch Lawn Mortuary. Online condolences may be shared at www.wasatchlawn.com
