Ruth Elizabeth Carpenter Johnson

July 6, 1921 – May 25, 2021
Obituary of Ruth Elizabeth Carpenter Johnson
IN THE CARE OF

Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park and Mortuary

Ruth Carpenter Johnson, 99, died peacefully in Orem, Utah, on May 25, 2021 of natural causes related to age.

Ruth, who leaves a lifetime legacy of generosity and service, was born July 6, 1921 in Manti, Utah, to Joseph Gerald and Mary Koch Carpenter.

She grew up in Manti, Utah where she met her eternal companion Dale (Joe) in kindergarten. Together they grew together, along with many lifelong friends and family enjoying the outdoors and nature. She and Joe married in the Manti Temple in November of 1941, just prior to the start of WWII. Moving to Salt Lake, she worked as Joe attended the University of Utah. They soon after started their family at the same time Joe entered the Army Air Corps.

Moving to Orem, Utah in the early 1950’s, their family grew with four boys. She loved and nurtured each and every one in her own special way. A fantastic cook, it was a treat to eat any meal she prepared, desserts and especially her homemade dill pickles.

She was a faithful member of the LDS Church until her death, holding many positions over the years and serving a service mission with her husband to Ventura, California in 1986.

Ruth will be remembered by those who loved her by her piano playing, creating beautiful handwork, crocheting and knitting. She was a passionate and compassionate woman sharing her gifts with family and friends. She was an unselfish and giving woman who quietly and freely met the needs of other people. Ruth found great joy in the service of her Savior.

Preceded in death by her husband Joe, her son Scott, her parents, brother Robert, sisters Julie, Evelyn and June.

Ruth is survived by her bothers Carl and Arthur. Her sons Alan (Betty), Gary (Marti) and Russell (Vickie) and daughter-in-Law Lynne. Ruth had 15 grandchildren whom she loved and adored and 22 great-grandchildren. They will always remember her kindness and generosity.

Burial will be at Wasatch Lawn Mortuary, 3401 S. Highland Drive, Millcreek, Utah. A private family-only graveside service will be held at that time.

The family wishes to extend a sincere thank you to Summerfield Assisted Living for their compassionate care.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to the compassionate charity or cause of choice. =
