Shauna Kay Stewart Lingman passed away on Thursday, January 20, 2022, at the age of 76, after losing her battle with a rare type of skin cancer. She was at her home in Salt Lake City surrounded by her family.
Born on November 13, 1945, in Salt Lake City, Utah to Leah Lavon (Lemmon) and Le Roy Stewart. She attended & graduated from East High School and took various classes & training for her different jobs. She married James “Jim” Ernst Lingman on October 22, 1964 and they were married 42 years until his passing.
Shauna & Jim had their own Insurance Agency for many years and she worked at several preschools (including Wasatch Presbyterian & Jewish Community Center) and later worked in several capacities at Highland High School.
She was very involved in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints by teaching a Primary class on the prophets of the church, which she made interesting by sharing their favorite foods, which included buttermilk doughnuts & pieces of bread with milk. Also, was in the Relief Society Presidency on two different occasions and later joined a Widows & Singles group. Later on, she enjoyed meeting & presenting at the Daughters of Utah Pioneers organization.
Over the years she has made many friends with whom she has enjoyed doing various hobbies like walking in the neighborhood or malls, reading & participating in book clubs, Tri-Chem painting, latch hooking, ceramics, doing puzzles, coloring books and most recently sticky bead art. Her family also had the opportunity of taking many vacations, of which, her favorites were the trips she took with her husband to Alaska & the Panama Canal.
She’ll be remembered for her independent & outgoing nature and for doing things for others. She went through many health challenges over the years, but was always determined to continue and would say “I’m doing this to be able to enjoy my grandchildren”. She loved having them sleep over, seeing them in their sports & activities and perked up to dance with them even in the end.
The family wishes to thank all of the caring and attentive doctors, nurses & staff that have helped her at Intermountain Health Care, University of Utah Health Care and most recently at Huntsman Cancer Institute. Also, Community Nursing Services and Huntsman at Home for helping make her last days comfortable.
Survived by daughters Joyce (Richard) Glaser of Salt Lake City, and Julie (Brandon) Berkley of Sandy, and her three grandchildren Ziletris Owens, Jakarin Owens & Quinn Glaser.
