Yvonne M Petersen

Wife, Mother, Grandmother, Great-grandmother and friend, age 86, passed away on Saturday, June 13, 2015. Born Margaret Yvonne Handy in Bountiful, Utah on August 28, 1928 to Elgin Day and Margaret Watson Handy. Graduated from Davis High School in 1946. She worked as a Teletype Operator for Western Union after high school and later was employed by Salt Lake Hardware. On the 4th of July 1948, married Donald L. Petersen, who preceded her in death on December 25, 1998. Mom has missed Dad every day since his death. Preceded in death by parents, husband Don, siblings Ray, Helen and Wayne, and two grandchildren, Dylan and Lewis. Survived by children: Coleen (Bill) Bollinger, of Cottage Grove, OR, Jerry (Linda) Petersen of Sandy, Jill Travis of Salt Lake City, and Gayle Petersen of North Salt Lake. Grandchildren: Kit Howard, Tavis Petersen, Jessica (Walter) Deutsch, Chelsea Travis, Ian Travis, Dustin (Kristeena) Petersen and Shae (Brooke) Petersen. Seven great-grandchildren: Mallory, Isaac, Tavia, Braxton, Drake, Inara and Davion. Also survived by brothers Dee (Shirley) and Ross Handy, and numerous nieces and nephews. The family wishes to extend their heartfelt appreciation to Canyon Creek Assisted Living and Brighton Home Health and Hospice for their loving care of Mom in her final days. Viewing at Evans and Early Mortuary, 574 East 100 South, Salt Lake City, Utah on Saturday, June 20, 2015 from 10:00 to 11:30am, immediately followed by services. Private internment at Mt.
