

She grew up on a farm in Olfen, Texas with eight brothers and sisters, and married Hubert C. Eggemeyer November 7, 1939 at St. Boniface Church in Olfen. She and Hubert farmed in Rowena and later moved to a farm north of San Angelo. The drought in 1954 forced them to move the family to Pecos, Texas for two years to farm with irrigation. They moved back to San Angelo when the drought ended and lived in San Angelo for the remainder of their lives. Together they raised four sons and four daughters.
Adeline was an active member of Sacred Heart Cathedral, Holy Angels Church, and St. Margaret’s Church during different periods of her life. She was active in the Altar Society, Catholic Daughters, and President of the Home and School Association at Sacred Heart School. She and her husband, Hubert, were in charge of Sacred Heart Christian Youth Organization for six years. She was selected as Mother of the Year in 1961. She and her husband were chairpersons for the spring festival at Holy Angels Church. Adeline was also a member of St. John’s Hospital Auxiliary and Shannon Hospital. She was a member of Perpetual Adoration at St. Margaret’s Church for many years.
Adeline taught kindergarten in 1958, managed St. Mary’s cafeteria for 2 years, and was employed at Ethicon from1966 – 1973. She then assisted Hubert in the lawn care service for GTE. After Hubert passed away, she managed the Tot Stop Day Care Center, decorated cakes and catered for Halfmann's Cake Cottage. She worked for McGowen’s Restaurant at Rio Concho Manor and for Olive’s Nursery before moving to Austin, TX, to work for Austin Radiology. One of her most enjoyable endeavors was working at Eggemeyer’s General Store where her specialty was making fudge. She made lifelong friends every step of the way.
The role she undertook most joyfully was that of a loving wife, nurturing mother and grandmother. She was a wonderful example of love and strength and her love of God and prayerful ways made her very special to all.
Her hobbies included dominoes, playing piano and accordion, oil painting, sewing, ceramics and gardening. She loved polka dances and square dancing.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Hubert, son Dennis, son Stanley and wife Linda Pelzel Eggemeyer, sons-in-law Johnny Jones and Jim Sample, great-great granddaughter, Brynnlee Stewart, sister Elvira Halfmann and husband Henry, brothers, Gilbert and wife Olga, Werner and wife Cate, Jerome, George, and R.B. Lange, Brothers-in-law Ervin Eggemeyer and wife Clara, Arthur Eggemeyer and wife Rose, Victor Eggemeyer and wife Jean; Clarence Book and Wilberth Bankston.
She is survived by 6 children, Joan Jones and Joyce Sample of Austin, Bobby Eggemeyer and wife Karen of Wall, Jackie Sanders and husband Kenny of San Angelo, Janice Eaves and husband Bill of Colleyville, and Wayne Eggemeyer and wife Lisa of California,14 grandchildren: Cherie and Joe Stewart, David and Keri Jones, Greg Jones, Jan and Greg Musler, Stephanie Jones, Brad and Tabitha Eggemeyer, Tammy and Jim Shoults, Eric Eggemeyer, Michel and Walt Hieger, Chrys and Ray Longoria, Kelly and Beth Eaves, Brandon and Tami Eaves, Maggie and Scott Baxter, Sarah and Anthony Cirillo, and Brandon and Alisen Sanders. She also is survived by 29 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren, Sister Dottie Frerich and husband Floyd, brother Hubert Lange and wife Nita; sisters-in-law Lynette and Louise Lange, Benita Bankston, Delphine Kleman, and Mary Ann Book and many nieces and nephews.
Grandsons will be serving as pallbearers.
Rosary will be at 7:00 P.M. Monday, August 27th in Johnson's Funeral Home Chapel. Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 AM Tuesday, August 28th at Cathedral of the Sacred Heart. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, directed by Johnson’s Funeral Home.
