

Armando "Mando" Cortinas Guevara In the early morning hours of April 7, 2016, Mando passed away peacefully in his sleep at his residence. Mando was 74 yrs. old. Mando was born on May 28th, 1941 in San Angelo, Tx., He was one of six children of Rita Cortinas Guevara and Paublo Guevara. Mando was a retired heavy construction operator. He had a love for travel and family. While serving in the U.S. Army he was stationed in Frankfurt, Germany and traveled throughout Europe extensively. He was on guard at the US post in Germany while the Berlin Wall was going up and was on stand by during the Cuban Missile Crisis. After his service in the US Army he returned to his hometown in San Angelo and married the love of his life Fabiola. They were married for 53 years. His career as heavy construction operator took him nationwide from New Jersey, Cape Code, Idaho, Texas and many other states. He enjoyed rigging up his RV while on his jobsite location, doing an honest job and meeting new people. Mr. Guevara was a man of few words but was an honest, hard working and loyal person. He was a strong tall man but had a gentle heart and a contagious smile. Actions were more important to him than words and his character proved that. He was always there for his family and enjoyed travel many miles to spend time with them. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends. As they say, "they just don't make them like that anymore!' Mando was preceded in death by his parents Paublo and Rita Guevara Mando is survived by his beloved wife Fabiola Cobos Guevara, daughters Sylvia Guevara of Round Rock, Tx., Annie Guevara of Austin, Tx., sons Samuel Guevara and Larry Guevara of San Angelo, Tx., His six grandchildren Michelle Aussenac, Jarryd Carrasco, Jill Lisa Reyes, Jennifer Drusen, Lorena Beltran and Joshua Sanchez. His four great-grandchildren Adriel Keliese and Christian Zain Aussenac, Elijah Antonio and Nico Armando Carrasco; Sisters Mary Lou Guevara of San Angelo, Tx., Dolores Guevara Savell, Rita Guevara Ortiz and Yrima Wheaton of Houston, Tx., and brother Ernest Guevara Sr. of San Angelo, Tx. Rosary will be on Sunday April 9th at 7pm, Johnson's Funeral Home. Mass of Christian burial: Monday April 10th at 11am, St. Margaret's Catholic Church.
