

Arthur Richards, 91, of San Angelo went to be with the Lord on Sunday, January 27, 2013 in San Angelo. The visitation will be 5:00 P.M. – 7:00 P.M., Friday, February 1, 2013 at Johnson’s Funeral Home. The Funeral service will be 10:00 A.M., Saturday, February 2, 2013 at Johnson’s Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Lowell Cleaver officiating. Interment will follow at Belvedere Memorial Park. Arthur was born December 19, 1921 in Rockdale, Texas to Ernest and Mabel Richards. He married Delois Cleaver on January 5, 1978 in San Angelo, Texas. Arthur was a truck driver for Winn Dixie. He also owned and operated “The Blue Room” which was located on the corner of 19th and Brown Street. Arthur loved playing domino’s, especially playing domino’s with his buddies at the Domino Shack. He also loved playing cards and fishing as well. Arthur was a “jack of all trades.” There was absolutely nothing that he could not do or fix, and he always enjoyed learning something new. He was adopted by the Mitchell Boulevard Church of Christ in Fort Worth and he was a diehard Dallas Cowboys Fan. Arthur fought the good fight with his illness and always seemed to bounce back after a setback. His perseverance, strength and faith in God always helped him pull through the tough times. He was a loving husband and father and grandfather and he will be dearly missed by all who knew him. Arthur was preceded in death by his parents and one sister. He is survived by his loving family, Wife, Delois ”Dee” Richards, of San Angelo; his children, Ted Richards, of California, Kenyatta Richards, of California, Jan Mackenzie, of Tyler, TX., and Michael Cleaver, of San Angelo; his Grandchildren, Janie Hicks Williams, of Lubbock, Abe Cleaver, of Lubbock; and numerous other grandchildren and great grandchildren; his special friends, Coleman Gates, Luther Cole and Jessie Belle Green. Pallbearers for the service will be Eugene Cleaver, Jerry Cleaver, Michael Cleaver, Coleman Gates, Alford Branch, Prinston Cleaver, Eddie Campbell and A.Z. Drones. Honorary pallbearers for the service will be Luther Cole, Fred Kelly, Abe Cleaver and Samuel Green. The family would like to extend their sincerest thanks and appreciation to all the medical staff at Shannon medical center, the San Angelo Fire Department and paramedics, Dr. Charles Jones and staff, Shannon Home Health and Shannon Wound Clinic, Dr. Daniel Luis, the nurses and nurses assistants at Shannon Hospital 5th Floor North, the Concho Transit Drivers, the First Financial Bank family, Interim Hospice, all of Dee’s brothers and sisters and everyone who helped Arthur during his illness.
