Billie Jim Simmons, 85, passed away on Saturday, September 25, 2010, after a short but courageous battle with cancer. She was born on Dec. 27, 1924, in Abilene, Texas, to Jack and Opal Powell Turner. Billie married Cecil Dee Simmons on Aug. 8, 1942.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Jack Corbin Turner and Opal Turner Graham; husband, Cecil Simmons; sisters, Billie George Freeman, Marie Aylor, and Sharon Oleson; and brother, Alfred Turner.
Survivors include brother, Don (JoAnn) Graham; sisters Jody Jett, Maxine Bunyard, Peggy Chase, and Patricia (Waymon) Sinclair; one son and his wife, Mr. & Mrs. Johnny Milton Simmons; two grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, September 28, at Johnson’s Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Toby Irwin officiating. The family requests memorials be made to Meals for the Elderly or your favorite charity. Arrangements are by Johnson's Funeral Home.
