Bill was born on March 27, 1938, in Sierra Blanca, Texas, to Prince and Alma Love. After graduating from high school, he proudly served his country in the United States Air Force before continuing his education at New Mexico State University.
It was in El Paso, Texas, that Bill met the love of his life, Cynthia Ann (Cindy) Love. They were married on June 5, 1965, beginning a marriage and family that would be the center of his life for more than six decades. Together, they returned to their beloved Sierra Blanca, where they raised their daughter, D’Ann, born in 1969, and their son Dusty, born in 1973.
Bill lived a life deeply rooted in his community and the land he called home. In addition to ranching, he served as an ag teacher at the high school and held a number of roles throughout Sierra Blanca, including owning the local newspaper and title company and serving as Hudspeth County Judge. He was also a proud Mason and valued the fellowship, service, and brotherhood that came with being a member of the Masonic community.
Bill had a love for woodworking and took great pride in creating beautiful pieces by hand. His craftsmanship lives on in the many homes of family and friends who were fortunate enough to receive one of his handmade bowls, crosses, or other treasured pieces. Each one serves as a lasting reminder of his creativity and generosity.
He was a hardworking man who believed in being involved, helping others, and giving back to the communities he loved.
In 2010, Bill and Cindy moved to San Angelo, where they began a new chapter of their lives. They became involved with the Baptist Memorial community and members of Sierra Vista United Methodist Church. It was there they found a church family they treasured. Together, they volunteered with many initiatives including Vacation Bible School and Kids Eat Free, enjoyed their Life Group, and made many dear friends. Their years in San Angelo were filled with faith, friendship, service, and time together.
Above all else, Bill was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. His family was his greatest joy, and the love he shared with Cindy was the foundation of their family.
Bill was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Cindy; his parents, Prince and Alma Love; and his brother, Baylus Love.
He is survived by his brother, Don Love and wife, Pat, of El Paso; his daughter, Deborah D’Ann Wilbanks and husband, Skeet, of Christoval; and his son, Dusty Love and wife, Jenny, of Christoval. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Tanner Wilbanks and wife, Blakeley; Sage Walters and husband, Aaron; Reid Love; and Renner Love; and his great-granddaughter, Giles Wilbanks, with another great-grandson, Cavett William Walters, lovingly anticipated.
Bill leaves behind a legacy of faith, hard work, service, family, and love. His family and friends will remember him for the life he built in Sierra Blanca, the land he worked, the community he served, the friendships he treasured, and, most of all, the love he gave so freely to his family.
A memorial service will be held at Sierra Vista United Methodist Church on Saturday, October 31 at 11AM. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Sierra Vista United Methodist Church.
