Bobby Ray Creek, age 65, of Big Lake, Texas went to be with the Lord on Monday May 13, 2013 after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born in Rangely, CO on November 1, 1947 to Johnie & Hazel Creek. On November 9th, 1965 he married Celia Ann Harwood and they eventually made their home in Olton, TX for over 20 years. Bobby was partial owner in Davis, Pyle, and Creek Water Well Drilling for 17 of those years. In 1982, they moved to Big Lake, Texas where Bobby worked 30 years for Plains, Inc. He retired January 5, 2011. After a few months of relaxation at home he began working at his leisure driving heavy equipment for Jimmy Storey, Tommy Holt, & Tom Williams. He truly enjoyed this time in his life, and it was a joy seeing him much less stressed as a semi-retired man.
Bobby is survived by his wife Celia Ann and two children, Lonny Creek of Big Lake, and Tammy Underwood and her husband Brian of San Angelo, TX. He had five grand daughters, Morgan Hogan and husband John of Greenwood, TX, Allison Blakely and fiancé Denver Lewallen of San Angelo, Tx, and Kassidy, Kynzie, and Kyndal Underwood of Ft. Worth, TX. His first great grand child Carter John Hogan is scheduled to be born Tuesday, May 28th, and Bobby fought valiantly to survive to hold that baby boy. God had another plan, and Papa will be the first to see that great grand son. Other survivors include brother Jeff Creek and wife Vickie of Los Lunas, NM, sisters Theresa Williams and husband Robert of Olton, TX, Mary Eppard and husband Charlie of Aztec, NM, and Rose Willoughby of Placitas, NM, and sisters-in-law Stella Creek of Los Lunas, NM and Kay Lynn Creek Turner of Norman, OK. Bobby was preceded in death by parents, Johnie and Hazel, brothers Jimmy and Jerry Creek, and baby sister Johnie Lee Creek.
Services are scheduled for Wednesday at 2:00 pm at the First United Methodist Church in Big Lake and will be officiated by Hospice Chaplain Art Taylor of Winters and Leslie Davidson of Big Lake. Burial will follow at Glen Rest Cemetery. Pall- bearers are nephews Johnny and Robby Lockeby, Keith and Michael Pyle, Gary, Gregg, Gerald, and Glenn Davis. Honorary Pallbearers are Jeff Creek, Robert Williams, Don Gene Harwood, Floyd “Tubby” Pyle, Ronnie Dorsey and Darrell Coon, and Jack Blakely.
